Economic Development Council of Ontario's (EDCO) Marketing Award

The Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO) recognized the Town of Newmarket with an award of merit in the publication category for Newmarket's 2006/07 annual community report. The award acknowledges innovative and creative marketing approaches to telling engaging business stories that will prompt continued or new investment.

Energy Conservation Certificate

The Town of Newmarket and Rodeo Fine Homes were presented with an Energy Conservation Certificate by Peter Love, Ontario's Chief Energy Conservation Officer, in recognition of their partnership to build 34 EcoLogic homes, Canada's greenest residential community.

Northern Six Joint Waste Collection Contract and Green Bin program

The northern six municipalities of York Region (Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Newmarket, King and Whitchurch-Stouffville) received national recognition at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Sustainable Community Awards in the waste management category for the collaborative waste collection contract and launch of the green bin program in September 2007. The six municipalities took top honours and were recognized for municipal leadership in sustainable community development, environmental excellence and innovation in service delivery.

Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO) - Award of Excellence

The Town of Newmarket's Community Services Commission - Recreation and Culture department was recognized for its Magna Centre ancillary revenue program and its SKATZ National Skateboard Certificate Program. The Magna Centre ancillary revenue program was given the Award of Excellence in the Municipal Administration category. SKATZ, Newmarket's National Skateboard Certificate Program (NSCP), was awarded top recognition in the Children and Youth category.

Smart Commute Employer of the Year Award

This annual award is presented to the Town of Newmarket recognizing the Town as an employer implementing transportation demand management tools and programs for the benefit of its' employees.
