The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement in effect until April 5. Rainfall is forecasted starting this afternoon through Thursday, with total rainfall amounts of 20-40 mm. Higher amounts of rainfall may occur in localized areas because of thunderstorm activity.
All watercourses in our area will be flowing higher than normal. As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. While widespread flooding is not expected, the possibility for flooding in various low-lying areas of the watershed exists due to the expected rainfall and melting of the remaining snowpack. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.
