In Newmarket's Urban Growth Centre, located along Yonge Street and Davis Drive, you can go directly to a Site Plan Application.

Newmarket's Urban Growth Centre includes Southlake Regional Health Centre, the Davis Drive Regional Corridor and the Yonge Street Regional Corridor.  This five-kilometre stretch in York Region is forecasted to continue to grow into a vibrant urban community of 33,000 residents and include 32,000 jobs over the next few decades.

The Urban Growth Centre is already home to bus rapid transit, a thriving technology-based and creative economy, brand new purpose-built rental, advanced communications (including broadband and fibre optics), rail connection (Go Train), Regional government administrative centre and a leading Health Care Centre. In addition, the area already has over 1,350 residential units moving through the application process.

You can be a part of this growth.

The Urban Centres Secondary Plan is the leading planning document that promotes growth in the area. A wide mix of uses are permitted within the six defined character areas of the Urban Growth Centre.

Getting started is easy. Many areas in the Urban Centre have been pre-zoned and are ready for your Site Plan Application.

The area's re-urbanization has already begun:

Completion of the VIVA Next rapid way on Davis Drive is now complete. VIVA Next Rapidway provides 2.6 km of dedicated rapid transit lanes along Davis Drive and bus service extends to Highway 404. The rapidway makes it easier for staff, patients, visitors and volunteers to travel to Southlake Regional Health Centre and for local residents and employees to travel between work, home, restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

Work on VIVA Next on Yonge street is expected to be completed by December 2019. Once completed, the rapidway will service shopping areas, the York Region's Administrative Centre Annex, vibrant public spaces like Mulock Property and more.
212 Davis Apartments
The 15-storey 212 Davis apartment building is located on Davis Drive and is the first purpose-built rental apartment complex in York Region in 30 years. There are approximately 225 units that contain a mix of one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den and two-bedroom units.
The DAVIS - a three tower condo and apartment community
The Davis Residences at Bakerfield is a three-phase, 4.4 acre master-planned community that consists of two 15-storey towers and one twn-storey building, a landscaped courtyard and a new 20,000 square foot urban park with playground. The first phase, a 15-storey 219 unit condo tower is expected to be completed by 2020.
Administrative Centre Annex (17150 Yonge Street)
Construction of York Region's Administrative Centre Annex is expected to be completed by 2020.

The eight-storey, 422,000 square-foot facility will offer a variety of public services such as public health clinics, social services, Ontario works, Provincial Offences Act Courts, York Small Business Enterprise Centre, Access York Customer Service and more.

In total, the Urban Centres Secondary Plan comprises approximately 290 ha (716 acres) of land, 130 ha (321 acres) of which are prime for re-development.
